We are in a small quiet hamlet, between two small villages. The larger of the two villages has a chemist, bakers, a bar, and a bar / restaurant, hairdressers and small Post Office. At the rear of our house we have around 1/3 acre of garden, leading down to the river Ternoise. Here, you can sit in the peace & quiet taking in the rural surroundings. Our comfortable bedrooms have tea & coffee making facilities and their own private bathrooms, one room has 3 single beds, the other has one double and one single bed. A cot is also available for smaller children. You can enjoy a peaceful nights sleep before sampling a continental style breakfast in the breakfast room, or if you prefer, in the garden to the sounds of Mother Nature. | There is always something to do or see, without having to travel too far. Throughout the summer, villages and towns have festivals celebrating everything from music to fish. Another popular event is the 'brocante or vide-grenier', similar to a UK bootsale. The locals sell their wares in front of their houses, and there is usually a bar and food marquee nearby, often with entertainment available too. Restaurants often have themed weekends, offering local specialities which can be anything from brawn to oysters, as well as their usual menus. At many local chateaux you can find exhibitions ranging from classic cars to agricultural displays, with demonstrations of country life. | |||||
