We have numerous local attractions to add pleasure to your visit, including; golf, fishing, motor race circuit, historic sites, World War 1 battlefields, street markets, beautiful beaches & theme parks, local produce & artisans shops, the area is also ideal for cycling & walking.

The market in Hesdin takes place on a Thursday morning, and is an excellent way to spend a couple of hours. The colourful stalls sell a wide range of goods from clothes through food to small animals & birds. The market takes over most of the town from quite early in the morning until lunchtime. It is lovely to be able to wander among the stalls, and then find a seat at one of the many bars and restaurants in the main square to enjoy lunch while watching the traders pack away their goods and the town transfer back to its usual self. You can then admire the wonderful architecture of the town hall before visiting the tourist office which is located inside. Bustling markets are a feature of most towns, whether on a weekday or weekend and go on throughout the whole year, with specialised Christmas ones appearing towards December.

If you are a fan of golf, we have many excellent courses nearby, including, Le Touquet, St.Omer, Arras, and one that proves very popular with our guests, Nampont St. Martin, which also has a driving range across a lake, on which floating balls have to be used.

For those who prefer an even quieter break, take the short drive to Le Crotoy, on the coast. Author, Jules Verne, lived in this small resort for 3 years. The tourist office has details of boat trips, fishing, tennis and riding. At low tide the sea goes out 14kms ! but returns very rapidly when it turns. Seals can often be seen in the harbour between tides, or basking on sandbanks, just a short way offshore.

For the walkers, how about a short drive to the pretty, fortified town of Montreuil? Part of the town was used as the setting for Victor Hugo's 'Les Miserables'. An excellent & interesting walk can be taken along the ramparts that encircle the town, or wander along the winding streets exploring the shops and ancient houses.
Because we are just over an hours drive from the Channel Tunnel & ferry ports, we are ideally situated for long week-end breaks and house hunting trips, we have a good rapport with a local estate agent and can offer you advice on the whole aspect of settling over here. There are also some superb local restaurants where you can sample fine wines & excellent French cuisine.
